FLAME OPERATOR
Cheat are an East London based Grading and Finishing company born of a self-made owner and founder driven to make an exceptional creative work and not afraid to do things differently.
We are looking for a similarly minded Flame artist who is excited and hungry to build and enhance our reputation with the online and VFX arena who isn’t afraid of taking ownership of Cheats expanding VFX requirements.
Responsible to: Toby Tomkins MD
Working with: Head of Production, Head of Assists and other staff
Responsible for: VFX, Online, Conforms, Managing VFX Department, and client experience.
Important internal relationships:
• Answer to Toby Tomkins and COO and HOP.
• Through producers, work with assistants to deliver / prep projects
• Coherent and regular communication with everyone in the company
Important external relationships:
• Manage client experience. Make sure all files are delivered correctly by client, and if not, make sure that with production, they are informed.
• Manage the room and make sure everyone is happy with the final products
• Advise clients during their production and pre production stages on VFX
• Liaise with external partners on outsourced and collaborative projects
Experience requirements:
· Proven history in compositing at commercial level specifically Flame, Flame assist, Nuke and Nuke Studio.
· Latest knowledge of TV title safety and file specifications for TV broadcast.
· Data backup process and file management/organisation.
· Basic knowledge of premiere, final cut and Avid, DaVinci (Not essential)
· Basic colour science
· Codecs, workflows and post practices
· To be up-to-date on latest software and data requirements.
· To be up-to-date and provide guidance to production on new and updated Clearcast terms as well as TVC delivery platforms such as Beam, Peach, IMD, AdStream etc
Day to day tasks:
• To conform, prep and help organise files for online, alongside assists.
• To online edit and execute final delivery
• To execute roto, comp and other VFX work to an excellent standard
• To manage the room when onlining projects.
• Support production in completing their tasks.
• Manage freelancers, assists or outsourced roto etc.
• Managing and executing backups of project files in conjunction with assists.
Purpose of the role:
· To build, own and enhance Cheat's reputation as a first class online, mastering and delivery service.
· To develop efficient and thorough pipelines between our data/assist department and final online service from prep to delivery and data backup.
· To train/guide new assistants and producers in VFX pipelines and technical knowledge of compositing.
· Push the creative reputation of CHEAT.
· Support and guide production.
· Suggest improvements in processes and equipment to Management
